The new buddy feature allowed GO players to interact with their favourite Pokémon as virtual companions, and The Pokemon Company International (TPCI) and Niantic (the makers of the Pokémon GO app) wanted a way to communicate this feature in an unforgettable manner.
As long-term fans of Pokemon we were able to conduct rapid and extensive research within the community around their connections to the brand. This inspired our emotive campaign concept, which was designed to tug on the heartstrings by reminding longstanding older players of the journey that they have been on with their favourite Pokémon - a journey which has taken different forms over the years, but still retains the same sense of companionship at its centre.
The award-winning campaign garnered huge viewing figures online, and still evokes regular appreciation from fans today.
