Our challenge was to set an epic scene for the arrival of the incredible mystical creatures, while also staying true to the game in terms of the environments and challenges that the player will face.
We also needed to debut a strong new hero (Hector, Prince of Troy), who will give the Trojan Armies a much-needed chance at a win after several DLC being battered by the Greeks.
Our creative idea was to find a way to explore the story the client wanted, sew in the social activations to hit their community objectives, and still deliver a colourful and narratively driven piece without going over the clients specified budget.
A huge portion of the community had hoped this was going to be how the original game would be released, feeling more representative of Homer’s Odyssey.
We wanted to build up to a reveal, and then come out with a bang (or a roar) maximising those fantastical elements and in turn, the community's excitement toward the piece.
The result was excellent all round. Delivered on time and on budget to client, strong audience engagement and reaction within the Total War Troy Community, and a joy to watch unfold over four days as the four pieces lead into the Mythos announcement to precede the rest of the campaign.
